Xavier Nady is off the market.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Diamondbacks locked up the outfielder to a one-year, $1.75 million contract on Wednesday night and plan to start him in left field next season.

Nady might also get a bit of time at first base.

He batted just .256 with a .306 on-base percentage and .353 slugging percentage in 2010 for the Cubs, but he did serious damage while playing for the Pirates in 2008 and may be able to bounce back in Arizona’s Chase Field, one of baseball’s most hitter-friendly ballparks.

At $1.75 million (and $1 million in incentives), it’s not a bad deal. Nady is only 32, a capable defensive outfielder, and he still has the ability to rattle off something like 25 homers if given ample playing time.
