Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports that the Dodgers have signed right-handed pitcher Matt Palmer to a minor league contract. The deal also carries an invitation to spring training, though Palmer is highly doubtful to carve himself a spot on Los Angeles’ Opening Day 25-man roster.

Palmer allowed two runs in two innings with the Padres last season. He spent the majority of the year at Triple-A Tuscon, where he had a 5.66 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 64/42 K/BB ratio in 98 2/3 frames.

Palmer was a 31st-round pick in the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft out of Missouri State University. He owns a 4.56 career ERA and a 1.48 career WHIP in 185 1/3 big-league innings (20 starts, 43 relief appearances).
