ESPN publicist Josh Krulewitz announced via Twitter that Steve Phillips has been fired following the revelation that he had an affair with a 22-year-old production assistant:
Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN. His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.
Phillips, who was previously accused of sexual harassment and admitted to multiple extramarital affairs while serving as Mets general manager, initially took a leave of absence from his position at ESPN, saying that he wished “to address this with my family and to avoid any unnecessary distractions through the balance of the baseball playoffs.”
