SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo reports that former major leaguer Felipe Lopez wants to make a comeback.
The infielder, now 35 years old, last played in the majors in 2011 with the Rays and Brewers. That year, he hit a combined .206/.247/.277 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 153 plate appearances.
Lopez would be looking at a minor league deal. He has plenty of experience at all four infield positions and some limited playing time in the outfield, so his versatility could help him provide some organizational depth to an interested team. But his odds of cracking an Opening Day major league roster are virtually nil.
Lopez did play four games in the Puerto Rican Winter League, racking up four singles and two walks in 18 plate appearances.
