The Blue Jays have re-signed righty reliever Gavin Floyd to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. He was with the Jays last year too, but was shut down last June with a sprained shoulder capsule.
Floyd pitched in 28 games out of the pen last year after being converted to the role in 2015. He had his moment, posting an ERA+ of 10 and a WHIP of 1.00. If he can show that he’s healthy he stands a good shot of making Toronto’s bullpen as a long man.
It feels like eons ago that he was a 17-game winner with the White Sox, but he’s just 33.
