Jay Alou, the agent for free agent Jose Bautista, said that his client “will play anywhere, or hit anywhere if it helps the team win,” Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. Bautista is open to roles beyond his usual right field position, including left field or in the infield, Morosi adds.
Bautista, 36, is coming off of a subpar -- by his standards -- season during which he hit .234/.366/.452 with 22 home runs and 69 RBI in 517 plate appearances. Being flexible to a position change or a batting order change will make him more attractive in a weak free agent market.
