Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman, out for the season after undergoing knee surgery due to a torn ACL, announced on Twitter that he will be taking summer classes at Duke University to finish his degree. He noted he would be rehabbing there as well with what he called “some of the best doctors in the world”.

Stroman was taken by the Nationals in the 18th round of the 2009 draft, but did not sign. He then played baseball at Duke from 2010-12 before the Blue Jays drafted him in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2012 draft.

Stroman made his major league debut on May 4 last season, pitching out of the bullpen initially before joining the rotation. Over 20 starts spanning 120 1/3 innings, Stroman compiled a 3.29 ERA with a 103/27 K/BB ratio.
