Mike Aldrete leaves Cardinals to become A’s bench coach

Mike Aldrete Cardinals

Chip Hale went from A’s bench coach to the Diamondbacks’ new manager and now Oakland has found his replacement in Mike Aldrete, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Aldrete has spent the past seven seasons on the Cardinals’ coach staff, first under Tony La Russa and then under Mike Matheny, serving as bench coach recently. However, he played for the A’s from 1993-1995, lives in California, and was a member of current A’s manager Bob Melvin’s coaching staffs in both Arizona and Seattle.
