Saturday had a celebratory feel for two of baseball’s most prominent young prospects.

Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas, who was promoted from Triple-A Omaha Friday, launched his first career major league home run Saturday against the Angels. He’s 2-for-6 with two walks and two runs scored since meeting up with Kansas City.

Padres first baseman Anthony Rizzo, promoted from Triple-A Tucson on Thursday, also slugged his first career home big league home run Saturday against the Nationals. He is 3-for-7 with four walks and two runs scored since arriving in sunny San Diego.

Unless something goes wrong, the two will finish out the 2011 season in the majors. Moustakas, 22, was ranked as the ninth-best prospect this winter by Baseball America. Rizzo, 21, was ranked 75th.
