Jim Salisbury and Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia report that Phillies outfielder Odúbel Herrera was arrested Monday night and charged with domestic violence.

The alleged incident involved Herrera’s 20-year-old girlfriend and took place at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The police report states that Herrera’s girlfriend “had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck that was sustained after being assaulted by her boyfriend, David Odubel Herrera, during a dispute.”

We are awaiting comment from the Phillies. He will no doubt be placed on administrative leave pending Major League Baseball’s investigation.

UPDATE: Major League Baseball has, indeed, placed Herrera on administrative leave, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. League officials are investigating the incident.
