Padres and Mariners pay tribute to Tony Gwynn

Below is a look at the touching tribute to Tony Gwynn tonight at Safeco Field in Seattle, where the Mariners hosted the Padres:

The Mariners also put the No. 19 on the infield dirt at Safeco Field to honor Gwynn. Appropriately enough, they put it in what Gwynn referred to as the “5.5 hole” between shortstop and third base, the spot where he collected many of his 3,141 career hits.

As for the Padres, they have added a black arm band to their jerseys for tonight’s game. They also have a No. 19 Gwynn jersey hanging in their dugout:
