Major League Baseball just announced that the Philadelphia Phillies will resume play Saturday, not this Friday as had been initially planned. Specifically, their July 31 game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park has been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader on Saturday.

The Phillies, as you know. have been idled since their weekend series against the Miami Marlins. So far no Phillies players have tested positive for COVID-19 in the wake of their matchup, though one visiting clubhouse attendant did. Major League Baseball gave no reason why the Jays series has been converted into a doubleheader on Saturday instead of Friday-Saturday-Sunday games, but it’s possible it’s about making sure the latest COVID-19 tests have come back before play resumes.
