Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dan Uggla saga -- in which he says he wants to stay but has rejected a big offer, and the Marlins say they want to keep him but have cut off negotiations -- may be concluded this week. How? With a trade, which he reports the Marlins are “down the road” on, having spoken with several clubs about their slugging second baseman.

Rosenthal says that the Tigers, Nationals and Blue Jays have contacted the Marlins about Uggla. He lists other teams that have shown interest in Uggla in the past or who might be a good fit, such as the Red Sox, Braves, Orioles, Giants and Cardinals. One big question that will determine how likely it is that he is moved is whether he’s willing to move off second base, where’s he a defensive liability. As a third baseman or maybe a left fielder, more possible trade partners would likely present themselves.
