Wednesday night’s Athletics/Yankees game was notable because A’s starter Kendall Graveman became the first AL pitcher to bat at Yankee Stadium. But as for feats of athleticism, Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks took the cake.

With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the fourth inning, Yonder Alonso lifted a Nathan Eovaldi breaking ball to left field. Hicks camped under it, gathered some momentum, and fired home. It was, as they say, a frozen rope, reaching catcher Brian McCann on one hop. McCann applied the tag to a sliding Danny Valencia to complete the double play.

Hicks’ throw was measured at 105.5 MPH by Statcast, the fastest in the Statcast era, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.
