Braves starter Julio Teheran helped his own cause on Sunday afternoon against the Mets, belting his first career home run. It was a solo shot off of Corey Oswalt in the top of the fifth inning, cutting the Mets’ lead to 3-1.

On the mound, Teheran surrendered three runs on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Fortunately for him, the Braves rallied late to pull out a 5-4, 10-inning win. Nick Markakis had the winning hit, a solo homer in the top of the 10th.

The Phillies also enjoyed a late rally on Sunday, beating the Marlins 5-3, so the Braves remain 1.5 games out of first place in the NL East. The Phillies will begin a six-game road trip out west against the Diamondbacks and Padres while the Braves close out their road trip with four games against the Nationals.
