Dodgers signed infielder Olmedo Saenz to a minor league contract.
If the Dodgers sign a left-handed-hitting first baseman, Saenz might be able to make the team as a pinch-hitter and starter against left-handers. The former Athletic is currently batting .324 with a 947 OPS in 40 games in Puerto Rico.

Olmedo Saenz, who is coming back from a torn Achilles’ tendon, might begin to play in extended-spring training games next week.
Seanz could join the A’s after the All-Star break.

Olmedo Saenz will get first crack at DH duties for the Dodgers Tuesday.
Jose Hernandez and former Blue Jay Jayson Werth will also be in the lineup against Ted Lilly. Jason Grabowski and Robin Ventura will also see time at DH over the next six games.

Olmedo Saenz went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and six RBI tonight in the Dodgers’ 12-6 win over the Pirates.
It was Saenz’s first start in four games, and he probably wouldn’t have played if not for Jason Phillips’ bruised hand. Ricky Ledee also got a start tonight and went 3-for-5 with a homer. If manager Jim Tracy is going to resume playing some of his better hitters, maybe the Dodgers will win a few more games.

Olmedo Saenz went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI against the Pirates tonight.
Sanez went 3-for-5 with a homer and six RBI yesterday, so he’s having a rather nice couple of days. He’s been a great lefty-masher the past few season, but this year he’s hitting about equally versus either side of the platoon. He’d be a nice asset to use if you knew when he was starting, but since the Dodgers don’t play him close to everyday he’s not that useful.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Olmedo Saenz hit a two-run pinch-hit go-ahead single with the bases loaded off Atlanta closer Chris Reitsma in the top of the ninth inning tonight.
Reitsma had loaded the bases with two hits and a walk before Saenz delivered the big hit. Oscar Robles added some insurance with an RBI single later in the inning.

Olmedo Saenz, rehabbing from a torn Achilles’ tendon, is considering retirement.
Saenz went 0-for-4 in his first start at Single-A Modesto this week but hasn’t played since. Manager Ken Macha said Saenz had returned to Arizona for ''personal reasons’’ and that his rehab was on hold.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Olmedo Saenz has returned to Panama, and nobody in the A’s organization seems to know if or when he’ll return.
Saenz had recently considered retirement while rehabbing in the minors.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Olmedo Saenz suffered a strained left oblique muscle during tonight’s game against the Giants.
If he’s going to miss some time, Jason Phillips and maybe Hee Seop Choi would get extra at-bats.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Olmedo Saenz started at first base on Saturday and went 1-for-4 against the Giants.
Saenz left Thursday’s game with a strained oblique.
