Peyton Battenfield allowed five runs on nine hits against the White Sox on Tuesday, taking a loss.
He struck out three. Battenfield struggled with the gopher ball, giving up dingers to Jake Burger, Gavin Sheets, and Andrew Vaughn. He’s done a better job limiting walks in May, allowing just one in three starts as compared to 11 in four April starts, but this makes back-to-back starts where he’s been hit hard and his ERA has risen to 5.19. Battenfield is scheduled to rematch with Mike Clevinger on Monday.
