ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports the Marlins are hiring Yankees minor league manager Rachel Balkovec as their next director of player development.
Balkovec has spent the last two seasons as the manager of the Yankees’ Single-A affiliate. The 36-year-old became the first woman to manage in affiliated baseball and will now head to Miami’s front office as their next farm director. It wouldn’t be surprising to see her leading a baseball operations department in the future.
