He injured himself running into the wall in the third inning. Rafael Ynoa replaced him in left field an inning later. Descalso grounded out in his only at-bat of the game. Consider Descalso day-to-day.

Ynoa will give Colorado middle infield depth while Trevor Story recovers from a torn UCL in his left thumb. The 28-year-old is a .289/.313/.381 career hitter.

Ynoa was only up for a few days, going hitless in five at-bats. He’ll be back up in September.

Ynoa cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. He’ll remain in the organization.

Ynoa went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts this season at the major league level and he batted .262/.326/.356 across 532 plate appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque.

He’s missed the last two games after aggravating the plantar fasciitis ailment in his left foot on Saturday. It doesn’t appear at this point that a trip back to the disabled list is in the offing for Dickerson, but it’s clear his foot injury isn’t going to allow him to play every day. Rafael Ynoa is in left field Monday.

The 27-year-old made the Rockies’ Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder, but hit just .241/.267/.310 with no homers and three RBI in 29 at-bats with the big league club. He’ll continue to provide organizational depth.

Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez are also absent from the Rockies’ starting lineup for Thursday afternoon’s series finale against the Diamondbacks. Rafael Ynoa will start at second base and bat second for Colorado.

The 27-year-old utility man was hitting just .225/.250/.270 in 89 at-bats with the big league club. He’ll continue to function as organizational depth for the Rockies at Triple-A.
