Nationals acquired RHP Robert Gilliam and LHP Gio Gonzalez from the Athletics for RHP A.J. Cole, LHP Tommy Milone, RHP Brad Peacock and C Derek Norris.
The deal was originally reported as a four-for-one deal, but the Nationals will actually get two players in return. Gilliam, 24, posted a 5.04 ERA and 156/48 K/BB ratio over 164 1/3 innings this past season with High-A Stockton. He’s a hard-thrower with some promise, but has yet to enjoy much success.
