Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Reds have acquired outfielder Wladimir Balentien from the Mariners in exchange for RHP Robert Manuel.
The Cincinnati outfield is somewhat depleted at the moment, so there’s no harm in taking a shot on Balentien despite some very evident flaws in his approach at the plate. The 26-year-old Manuel had a 2.70 ERA in 46 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season and has pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Reds this month. He could be a useful asset in the Seattle bullpen.

Mariners acquired RHP Robert Manuel from the Reds for outfielder Wladimir Balentien.
Not a bad return for the Mariners considering that they clearly had no use for Balentien in their future plans. The 25-year-old Manuel had a 2.70 ERA with a 38/10 K/BB ratio and 10 saves in 46 2/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville this season. He has been assigned to Triple-A Tacoma initially, but could help the Seattle bullpen before the season is over.

The Reds plan to call up Robert Manuel from Triple-A Lousiville on Tuesday.
First they have to figure out a corresponding move to clear room on the 25-man roster. Manuel was 3-3 with a 2.51 ERA and a 36/9 K/BB ratio in 43 innings for the Lousiville Bats. He’ll pitch in middle relief.

Reds purchased the contract of RHP Robert Manuel from Triple-A Louisville.
Manuel learned of his promotion earlier in the day, but the Reds had to figure out a corresponding move. With Drew Sutton’s promotion, Manuel is now in the clear. He had a 2.51 ERA and a 36/9 K/BB ratio down on the farm and will operate mostly in middle relief.

Reds recalled RHP Robert Manuel from Triple-A Louisville.
Manuel tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings for Reds before being optioned back to Louisville on July 20. He’ll return to a role in middle relief.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Reds optioned RHP Robert Manuel to Triple-A Louisville.
Manuel didn’t allow an earned runs in 4 1/3 innings for the Reds, although he did surrender five hits and a walk. He returns to a 2.51 ERA and 36/9 K/BB ratio over 43 innings at Louisville.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Red Sox claimed RHP Robert Manuel off waivers from the Mariners.
Maneul, 26, posted a 2.88 ERA and 49/16 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. His numbers are strong, but he has sub-par stuff and may be destined for a career in middle relief.

Red Sox designated RHP Robert Manuel for assignment.
He was cleared in order to make room for right-hander Gaby Hernandez on the 40-man roster. Manuel was claimed off waivers form the Mariners in November. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 2.88 ERA and 49/16 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level last season.

Reds optioned LHP Matt Maloney, RHP Sam LeCure and RHP Robert Manuel to Triple-A Louisville; optioned 3B Juan Francisco to Double-A Carolina; reassigned RHP James Avery, 1B Wes Bankston, 1B Kevin Barker, INF Luis Bolivar, LHP Ben Jukich, C Chris Kroski, LHP Adam Pettyjohn and RHP Jordan Smith to minor league camp.
The Reds seemed quite a bit higher on Maloney a year ago. He wasn’t considered for the fifth spot in the team’s rotation, and he gets sent out after making just two appearances. Manuel, one of the club’s top relief prospects, was a disappointment this spring, giving up eight earned runs in two innings.

Red Sox optioned RHP Robert Manuel to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Manuel, who was just brought up from the minors on Saturday, failed to make an appearance with the big club over the weekend. The 26-year-old right-hander returns to a sterling 0.98 ERA with the PawSox.
