Muñoz

Muñoz was recalled on Monday and allowed three runs on five hits in two innings. He’ll head back to Triple-A and will be an option for Atlanta again in the coming weeks.

Atlanta needed a fresh arm in the bullpen, so Muñoz gets the call after starting the season with 7 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A.

Muñoz threw 52 pitches out of the bullpen over the last two games, with Sunday’s performance against the Mariners being a rough outing in which he allowed five runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings. The Braves will bring up a fresh arm in the bulk relief role.

Muñoz had a 2.75 ERA and a 51/31 K/BB in 55 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A this season. The 25-year-old reliever will be making his major league debut.

Muñoz, 24, will open the season in Triple-A with the Stripers, but the 24-year-old could be a middle-inning option at some point before the 2025 season comes to a conclusion.

The elevation protects Munoz from next month’s Rule 5 Draft ahead of this week’s reserve list deadline and keeps him in the Braves organization heading into 2025. The 24-year-old pitched the majority of the season in Double-A and had a mediocre season, registering a 4.24 ERA in 51 innings in 38 appearances and one start. However, he did have 75 strikeouts and 22 walks with three home runs allowed in those innings, which speaks to his potential upside as a reliever with swing-and-miss potential.
