DFA’ed by the Padres a few weeks ago, Marinaccio spent a little over a week with the Pirates before being DFA’ed again after the Pirates acquired a whole new bullpen at the deadline. He’s out of options, so he will go on to the major league roster immediately.

Ron Marinaccio has received a three-game suspension for intentionally hitting Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson with a pitch over the weekend.

Marinaccio has elected to appeal the suspension and will continue pitching until that process unfolds. Padres manager Craig Stammen has also been handed a one-game suspension, which he will serve during Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals. Marinaccio plunked Henderson during the ninth inning of Saturday’s game, which led to him being tossed from the contest.

Ron Marinaccio was ejected from Saturday’s game in the ninth inning for hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch.

With the Padres up 9-3 and two outs and none on in the ninth, Marinaccio sent his first pitch at Henderson’s rib cage. Xander Bogaerts had been hit in the head earlier, and this appeared to be the Padres’ second attempt at revenge, directed at Henderson, after Bradgley Rodriguez missed twice with inside pitches in Henderson’s previous at-bat.
