    Yankees released 2B Rougned Odor.
Odor signed a minor league deal with the Yankees back in early April and never made it back to the Bronx for a second stint with the club. This might be the end of the road for the well-traveled 30-year-old second baseman after struggling last year with the Padres. If this is truly it, he certainly left an impression, most notably on Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista back in 2016 during an on-field brawl.

Yankees signed INF Rougned Odor to a minor league contract.
This will be Odor’s second stint with the Yankees after he spent the 2021 season in the Bronx. The 30-year-old spent his first seven seasons in the majors with the Rangers and has been with three different clubs over the past three seasons (NYY in 2021, BAL in 2022 and SD in 2023). He slashed .203/.299/.355 across 157 plate appearances with the Padres last season. He signed a one-year contract with Yomiuri Giants of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball this offseason but left the team three days before Opening Day because the team wanted to put him in the minor league system.

Rougned Odor has signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Odor heads overseas after posting a lackluster .675 OPS with four homers and two steals in 59 games last year for the Padres. Still just 29 years old, there’s a chance he’s able to rebuild his value in Japan to earn another shot in the big leagues.
  • MLB 2nd Baseman #24
    Padres released INF Rougned Odor.
Odor was removed from San Diego’s 40-man roster and wound up going unclaimed on waivers. The 29-year-old infielder compiled a pedestrian .675 OPS with four homers and two stolen bases across 59 games.
  • SD 2nd Baseman #24
Padres designated INF Rougned Odor for assignment.
Odor has been jettisoned from San Diego’s 40-man roster after posting a .675 OPS with four homers and two stolen bases across 59 games. The 29-year-old infielder might attract some interest on waivers, but that seems unlikely.

Ha-Seong Kim is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Reds.
He’ll take a seat against right-hander Graham Ashcraft. Rougned Odor will make the start at second base while Matt Carpenter will serve as the designated hitter.

Rougned Odor went 1-for-4 and smacked an RBI double as the Padres topped the Rays on Sunday afternoon in San Diego.
Odor roped his run-scoring double off of Yonny Chirinos in the fourth inning, extending the Padres’ lead to 4-2. He has struggled for the most part during his time with the Padres this season, slashing a mere .218/.319/.416 with four homers, 18 RBI and two stolen bases in his first 116 plate appearances.

Rougned Odor went 0-for-4 on Monday in his return to the Padres’ lineup.
Odor went hitless in four at-bats before being lifted for a pinch-runner in the seventh inning after reaching base on a fielder’s choice. The 29-year-old infielder is going to attempt to play through a left groin strain that he suffered last Friday and should avoid a trip to the injured list.

Rougned Odor (groin) returned to the Padres’ starting lineup for Monday night’s tilt against the Cubs.
Odor suffered a left groin strain during Friday’s ballgame, and the initial assumption was that he was going to require a trip to the injured list. Instead, he’ll return to action after missing just two ballgames. Odor is slashing just .216/.303/.420 with four homers, 17 RBI and two stolen bases in 88 at-bats with the Padres this season. He’ll get the start at second base and hit atop the Padres’ lineup against Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs on Monday evening in San Diego.

Rougned Odor (groin) was held out of the Padres’ starting lineup on Saturday.
Earlier in the day on Saturday it sounded like Odor was a lock to land on the injured list, so the fact that he’s just sitting out on Saturday and not being shelved for a couple of weeks is an encouraging development. Ha-Seong Kim will start at second base and bat seventh for the Padres for Saturday’s tilt against the Cubs.
