Cusick

Cusick cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The 25-year-old pitching prospect will stick with Philadelphia after spending time with three different organizations prior to being claimed off waivers back in early June.

It’s been a rollercoaster season for Cusick, who has spent time with four different organizations since late May. The 25-year-old righty was claimed off waivers from the White Sox back in early June. There figures to be some interest on waivers in the coming days.

Cusick heads to his fourth different organization since May 27. The 25-year-old prospect has been a hot commodity on waivers since being designated for assignment by the Athletics a couple weeks ago, spending time briefly with the Tigers and White Sox as well.

Well, that was quick. Cusick was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from the Tigers on Wednesday, and he’s now back on the wire two days later. The former first-round pick could get claimed for third time in two weeks, but there’s a strong possibility he’ll be reporting back to Triple-A Charlotte as well.

Cusick will join his third organization in a week, as he was claimed off waivers by the Tigers from the Athletics on Friday. The 25-year-old has a 6.32 ERA in the minors in 2025, and isn’t likely to make a fantasy splash anytime soon.

Cusick, who has a 6.32 ERA as a Triple-A reliever this year, was just claimed on waivers from the A’s on Friday. If he clears waivers this time, he’ll remain with Triple-A Toledo.

Cusick was designated for assignment Tuesday, and the Tigers claimed the former first-round pick and optoned him to Triple-A Toledo. He’s on the 40-man roster so he could help Detroit at some point this summer, but he hasn’t pitched well enough in the minors to suggest that’s going to happen.

The procedural move opens up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster. Cusick has yet to appear in the big leagues and boasts a lackluster 6.75 ERA across 14 2/3 innings (13 appearances) this season for Triple-A Las Vegas.

Cusick was added to the Athletics’ 40-man roster during the offseason after compiling an underwhelming 4.66 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66/40 K/BB ratio across 63 2/3 innings (30 appearances, nine starts) last year in the upper minors. The 25-year-old former first-round pick could wind up making it to the big leagues later this year, most likely as a reliever.

Clarke will likely be an up-and-down outfielder for the A’s in 2025. Hoglund and Cusick both have a chance to make appearances as well.
