Tepera went unclaimed on waivers and will head back to the open market following a brief stint with the Cardinals that included just a pair of relief appearances. The 35-year-old right-hander figures to latch on somewhere as extra organizational depth.

Well, that was fast. Tepera signed a one-year pact with the Cardinals earlier this week and has already been removed from the club’s 40-man roster to make room for outfielder Tyler O’Neill to return ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the Cubs. The 35-year-old journeyman right-hander wound up making a pair of relief appearances for St. Louis and figures to pass through waivers unclaimed.

The 35-year-old right-hander opted out of his contract with the Rangers on Friday and it didn’t take him long to find a new gig. He’ll add depth in the middle innings for manager Oli Marmol.

He’s expected to become a free agent. Tepera, 35, signed a minor league deal with Texas last month after being released by the Angels. He struggled in his time with the Angels this season, but pitched well with the Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate and will try to find a better situation with another club.

Tepera was released by the Angels a couple weeks ago and has managed to latch on with the division-rival Rangers. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander will head to Triple-A Round Rock as extra organizational relief depth and could make his way to Texas’ bullpen rather quickly. He compiled a lackluster 7.27 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 10/3 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 innings (10 appearances) this season for Los Angeles.

Tepera missed two weeks with right shoulder inflammation and allowed two homers in a loss to the Guardians on Saturday night. Zack Weiss was recalled in a corresponding transaction.

Tepera returns to the Los Angeles’ bullpen following a two-week absence due to right shoulder inflammation. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander will be available for Tuesday’s series opener against the Cardinals.

Tepera is expected to start and pitch one inning as he makes his way back from right shoulder inflammation. The veteran right-hander should be ready to return in early May if all goes well.

Tepera was pulled from an appearance Saturday against the Red Sox. This year, the 35-year-old had an 11.25 ERA and 3.00 WHIP across six relief appearances. The team has not announced how long he will miss or how severe the inflammation is.
