Feldman

Feldman, 22, had a 2.54 ERA in 56 2/3 IP for Frisco. A sidearmer with a fastball in the high-80s, he could be of some use out of the pen, although he’ll probably have problems against left-handers.

So, Feldman was given a 40-man roster spot and then not used in two days with the club. The Rangers are 9 1/2 games out of the wild card. There’s no reason for them to be fooling around with Justin Thompson and Steve Karsay rather than someone who might be of some use down the line.

Feldman has a 5.23 ERA in 31 innings of relief for the Rangers this season. His stay this time could be a short one.

Feldman, who was just recalled yesterday, returns to Triple-A to make room for Kip Wells on the active roster.

X-rays were negative. Feldman was hit by a Joe Crede liner in the eighth inning Tuesday.

Rick Bauer replaced him. Feldman is probably day-to-day.

Feldman left Tuesday’s game when he was hit in the right forearm by a comebacker.

Feldman hadn’t pitched since hurting his ankle on Friday.

A high price to pay for drilling someone in the hip. Feldman won’t have to serve his suspension until after Vicente Padilla returns. The Rangers might prefer that he appeal and get it pushed back into September.

Feldman will rejoin the bullpen. He has a 5.01 ERA in 32 1/3 innings of relief work this season.
