Red Sox designated RHP Seth Martinez for assignment.

Martinez was up for less than a week and allowed a run in his only appearance with the Red Sox. He’ll get the boot from the roster with Alec Gamboa coming up to provide a fresh arm. Martinez can either report back to Triple-A if he goes unclaimed, or elect free agency.

Red Sox selected the contract of RHP Seth Martinez from Triple-A Worcester.

The 31-year-old hurler will get his first opportunity with the Red Sox after posting a 5.55 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 49/17 K/BB ratio over 60 innings in 33 appearances at Triple-A Worcester. It’s likely that he’ll be asked to work a couple of innings during Sunday’s bullpen game against the Athletics.

Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reports that the Red Sox will select the contract of Seth Martinez before Sunday’s game against the Athletics.

Cotillo reports that Martinez will be up to take Raymond Burgos’ spot on the staff. Martinez was signed to a non-roster invite prior to the season, and the 31-year-old will get a chance to make his season debut if/when he gets into a game. Obviously, there’s no fantasy ramifications here.

Red Sox reassigned LHP T.J. Sikkema and RHPs Seth Martinez, Wyatt Olds, and Noah Song to minor league camp.

Sikkema was the 38th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft but has been unable to stick with the Yankees, Royals, or Reds prior to this season. He allowed five runs on 10 hits in five innings for the Red Sox this season. At one point, it seemed like Seth Martinez was destined for a spot in the Red Sox bullpen, but he got hit hard in his last outing and will now re-evaluate his next move. Song is the only one with minor league options remaining, and the former fourth-round pick looked good in spring, allowing just one run on three hits in eight innings while striking out nine and walking four. The Red Sox will hope to keep him in the organization.

Andrew Parker of Sox Prospects reports that the Red Sox have signed Seth Martinez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Martinez spent 2025 with the Marlins, and he forged a 5.40 ERA in 6 2/3 innings. The 31-year-old has had success at the highest level with the Astros, and a good showing in spring training could see him win a low-leverage bullpen job.

Marlins RHP Seth Martinez elected free agency.

Martinez will test the free agent waters after passing through waivers unclaimed over the weekend. The 31-year-old hurler posted a pedestrian 5.40 ERA across 6 2/3 innings over six appearances for the Marlins. He previously made 111 appearances for the Astros from 2021-2024, registering a respectable 3.93 ERA over 137 1/3 innings during that span.

Marlins sent RHP Seth Martinez outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.

The 31-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment earlier in the week but passed through waivers unclaimed. It appears as though he’ll accept the assignment and continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Marlins at the Triple-A level.

The 30-year-old Martinez had spent the entire season at Jacksonville after failing to make the Marlins out of spring training and had a 3.71 ERA and a 54/18 K/BB in 43 2/3 innings. He’ll work out of the bullpen.
