We wonder if the Diamondbacks are having second thoughts regarding Randy Choate’s multiyear deal considering that Nance and Kevin Tolar have been the best lefty relievers in camp. Nance, acquired from the Brewers in the Richie Sexson deal, will likely log some time in the Arizona pen this year.

Nance should begin a rehab assignment as soon as the minor league season starts. He’ll be ready to come off the DL in two or three weeks, but he might be optioned to the minors once healthy.

Nance is expected to open the season on the disabled list.

Nance, 26, had a 4.81 ERA in 24 1/3 innings as a reliever for the Brewers last season. He’s not very likely to win a spot in the Diamondbacks bullpen.
