    Athletics signed OF Stephen Piscotty to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
    Piscotty, 33, spent five years roaming the outfield for the Athletics from 2018-2022. He spent the 2023 campaign in the White Sox’ organization where he slashed an underwhelming .232/.330/.390 with six long balls and 32 RBI in 206 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll need an impressive showing in Cactus League play to have a shot at cracking the Opening Day roster.

The 32The 32-year-old outfielder batted .190/.252/.341 with five homers and two steals across 139 plate appearances in 42 games last year for the rebuilding Athletics before being released in mid-August. He’ll head to Triple-A Charlotte and might get a chance in Chicago at some point this year.

    Piscotty, 32, performed well in Cactus League play -- hitting .320 (8-for-25) with zero homers, seven RBI and a stolen base -- but it wasn’t enough to crack a crowded Opening Day roster. He’ll begin the season in an everyday role at Triple-A Sacramento and should get an opportunity with the big league club at some point during the 2023 season.

    Stephen Piscotty went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs on Friday as the Giants fell to the Rangers in Cactus League play.
    Piscotty opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI single off of Taylor Hearn in the opening inning that scored Blake Sabol from second base. He added a run-scoring double in the sixth inning that pulled the Giants to within six runs at 8-2. The 31-year-old is off to a nice start this spring, hitting .444 (4-for-9) with three RBI and a stolemn base.

He latched on with the Reds shortly afterwards, but didn’t end up making it to the majors. The 32-year-old California native will compete this spring for a spot on the Giants’ season-opening roster in a reserve outfielder role.
