Reds signed catcher Steve Lomasney to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Lomasney, once considered Boston’s catcher of the future, is coming off another disappointing season in which he batted .241 with a 618 OPS in 81 games for Triple-A Ottawa. The 26-year-old is going to have to get things turned around in Triple-A this year if he even wants to have a future as a backup.
