Mets re-signed RHP Tommy Hunter to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Hunter made 18 relief appearances last year for the Mets, finishing with a sparkling 2.42 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 22/6 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings, and will return for a potential 16th season in the majors. The 36-year-old veteran righty reliever will presumably receive an invitation to spring training and will compete for a spot on New York’s Opening Day roster. At a bare minimum, Hunter represents a solid organizational depth addition.
