The Giants are hiring Ron Washington as an infield coach, according to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale.
The 73-year-old Washington is landing on his feet after the Angels declined to bring him back as their manager. He’s always gotten rave reviews for his work with infielders, and he’ll provide a great deal of major league experience on Tony Vitello’s staff.

The Giants are hiring Frank Anderson, who was the University of Tennessee’s pitching coach under new San Francisco manager Tony Vitello.
According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the Giants just ex-Brewers coach Justin Meccage as their new pitching coach, so Anderson apparently will have a different title. The Giants lost their previous pitching coach, J.P. Martinez, to the Braves earlier in the offseason.

Giants hired Tony Vitello as their next manager.
It’s a three-year deal that pays $3.5 million per season with a vesting option at the end. Vitello joins the Giants after spending the last years coaching at Tennessee, where he accumulated a record of 341-141 and lead the Volunteers to a championship in 2024. It’s a fascinating hire, as Vitello has never worked in professional baseball. He beats out known candidates Vance Wilson, Brandon Hyde and Kurt Suzuki to get the gig. It seems likely that Vitello will bring some of his Tennessee staff with him, but he’ll also need to bring in some MLB experience as well.
