Twins recalled RHP Travis Adams from Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams didn’t get more than four outs in any of his four Triple-A appearances while in the minors, so it looks like the Twins will treat him as more of a traditional reliever this month than the swingman he was previously. He had a 7.71 ERA in two starts and six relief appearances between July and August.

Twins optioned RHP Travis Adams to Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams returns to the minors after compiling an unsightly 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings (eight appearances, two starts) this season in the big leagues. The 25-year-old rookie can be safely ignored in most, if not all, fantasy formats.

Thomas Hatch gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings out of the pen Tuesday against the Yankees.
It’s a fifth-starter tandem for Minnesota. Hatch walked seven and threw 99 pitches tonight behind Travis Adams, who allowed four runs in 2 1/3 innings. Those two will keep jockeying for position until the Twins get enough injured pitchers back to fill out the rotation. They’ll probably again pitch Tuesday against the Tigers.

Travis Adams allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision against the Tigers on Monday.
Adams gave up four hits, walked none and struck out seven. The 25-year-old excelled in his first MLB start. The home run he allowed to Wenceel Perez in the fifth inning that tied the game came on a slider that was below the strike zone. Adams threw just 63 pitches. While the seven strikeouts were a positive, we certainly need to see more from Adams. If the Twins give him another start in the rotation, he lines up to face the Royals at home this weekend.

The Twins will have Travis Adams start Monday’s game against the Tigers.
José Ureña was supposed to start tonight, but he was needed Sunday because Simeon Woods Richardson was scratched. Adams has pitched in relief in all four of his appearances for the Twins, but three of those were as a bulk guy behind an opener. He threw 83 pitches and gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Nationals last time out.

When you deal a third of your roster before the deadline, you have to make a lot of roster moves, and the Twins did just that. Eight players were added from Triple-A St. Paul; six recalled and two who had their contracts added. Adams could get a chance to make starts for Minnesota, but even if he does, there’s not a ton of fantasy upside in the 25-year-old’s right arm.

Twins optioned RHP Travis Adams to Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams threw 83 pitches as a bulk guy Sunday, so he’s getting swapped out for a fresh arm. While he’s out of the rotation mix for now with Bailey Ober due back later this week, things could change again for Adams if the Twins trade a starter prior to the deadline.

Cole Sands allowed one run in two innings and got a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday.
Sands managed to give the Twins two innings as the opener for the bullpen game. The 28-year-old right-hander allowed a solo home run to CJ Abrams and struck out two batters. Later in the game, Travis Adams allowed five runs and took the loss.

Adams gets the call after the Twins placed David Festa on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. While with the club, Adams will be a middle-inning option.

Adams returns to the majors to make room for prospect Zebby Matthews to take the ball on Saturday against the Rockies. The 25-year-old righty has made three relief appearances this season for Minnesota.
