It’s just a standard day of rest for Posey. Trevor Brown will get the start at catcher and bat eighth with the Padres throwing right-hander James Shields.

Posey caught all 14 innings of Monday night’s marathon win over the Marlins. He also appeared to injure his finger on a slide into third base, but his absence Tuesday night is more about rest than anything. Trevor Brown will start at catcher versus Miami.
