Brewers optioned INF Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
Black went 0-for-2 with three walks in two appearances off the bench while Isaac Collins was away. He might be back in September, but the Brewers’ extra roster spot then will probably go to Rhys Hoskins, who should be returning from the IL at some point.

Brewers recalled INF Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville.
Black is up with Isaac Collins placed on the paternity list. The 25-year-old should get a chance to play over the weekend, but likely heads back to Nashville after the series against the Reds concludes.

Brewers optioned INF Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
Black returns to the minors with Sal Frelick coming off the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Marlins. The 25-year-old infielder got into three games for the Brewers after being called up last weekend, going 2-for-6 with an RBI during that span.

Brewers recalled INF Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville.
Black has been one of the more intriguing prospects in the upper minors for a couple seasons, but has never been able to parlay his on-base skills and stolen base prowess into an everyday role in the big leagues. The versatile 24-year-old returns to the big leagues ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dodgers with Jake Bauers hitting the injured list with a shoulder impingement.

Tyler Black (hamate surgery) will begin a rehab assignment this week.
Black had surgery in late March on a broken hamate bone in his right hand. He will likely need a few weeks on a rehab assignment before the Brewers think about calling him up, but we’d expect him to remain in the minor leagues for a bit longer.

Tyler Black, who was set to open up in Triple-A, has a broken hamate bone and will miss 6-8 weeks.
Black had a chance of making the Brewers this spring, but he hit just .147/.326/.265 in 43 plate appearances. Now it looks like he won’t be an option for the major league club until June.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #7
Brewers optioned INF Tyler Black and INF Caleb Durbin to Triple-A Nashville.
Black is one of the better hitting prospects in the system, but he’ll get regular playing time in Triple-A after a shaky spring training. The 24-year-old has a chance to help Milwaukee at some point in 2025. Durbin would likely be just a bench option if/when he received a promotion.

Tyler Black slugged a three-run homer on Wednesday in a win over the White Sox.
Black is hitting just .138 (4-for-29) this spring after dealing with a back issue early in camp. The 24-year-old has showcased an intriguing blend of plate skills in addition to a power-speed combination in the upper minors, but it hasn’t translated to the big leagues yet.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #7
Tyler Black has not played in the Cactus League due to stiffness in his back.
The Brewers are going to make sure that Black is healthy before the 24-year-old gets into games. He should battle for a spot on the Brewers to open 2025 once healthy, but there’s just as good — if not better — chance he begins the season in Triple-A with Nashville.
  • MIL Shortstop #3
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said Tuesday that Joey Ortiz will play shortstop this season.
Attanasio added that the club wants to give prospect Tyler Black a shot at third base along with incumbent Oliver Dunn. His remarks come on the heels of offseason comments from manager Pat Murphy that highlighted Ortiz as the most logical choice to replace Willy Adames. The 26-year-old is a gifted defender and also boasts double-digit homer and steal potential for fantasy purposes. The interesting wrinkle here is Black, who has put up phenomenal numbers at the Triple-A level, but has yet to carve out a permanent role in the big leagues.
