Danish was cut loose earlier this week after posting a stratospheric 7.71 ERA, 2.32 WHIP and 26/31 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings (11 appearances, 10 starts) for Triple-A Albuquerque in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. The 29-year-old former second-round pick from the 2013 MLB Draft made a career-high 32 relief appearances for the Red Sox during the 2022 season.

The 29-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since his time with the Red Sox in 2022. He had been pitching in the Mexican League, where he fired six scoreless innings with a 0.83 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio, which was apparently enough to catch the attention of the Rockies. He’ll add bullpen depth at Triple-A Albuquerque.

The 28-year-old right-hander exercised the opt-out clause in his contract with the Nationals after he didn’t receive a promotion from Triple-A. Danish posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 20/15 K/BB ratio over 29 innings. He’s now free to latch on elsewhere.

Danish was released by the Yankees last month after failing to make their season-opening roster and will head to the rebuilding Nationals as extra organizational relief depth. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a serviceable 5/13 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 32/12 K/BB ratio across a career-high 40 1/3 innings (32 appearances) last year for the Red Sox.

Danish signed a minor league contract with the Yankees back in December after making 32 relief appearances last year for the division-rival Red Sox. The 28-year-old righty should be able to latch on somewhere else as organizational relief depth.

No surprises here but both pitchers will serve as bullpen depth for the Yankees this season.

Danish has the right to do so if he’s not added to the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old has been rocked for 16 runs (including four homers) in 4 1/3 innings this spring, so he’s highly unlikely to make the team.
