Rockies selected the contract of RHP Valente Bellozo and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old hurler gets a spot on the Rockies’ 40-man roster with RJ Petit shifting to the 60-day injured list, but he’ll open the season at the Triple-A level where he’ll continue to function as extra rotation depth. Bellozo should get an opportunity to pitch for the Rockies at some point during the 2026 campaign.

Rockies reassigned RHP Valente Bellozo to minor league camp; released RHP John Brebbia.
Bellozo and Brebbia were in Rockies camp this spring as non-roster invitees attempting to make the club’s season-opening relief mix. Bellozo will presumably head to Triple-A Albuquerque to open the year while Brebbia has been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Valente Bellozo pitched well in Thursday’s Cactus League victory over the Giants, surrendering just one run on two hits over three frames.
Bellozo punched out one and didn’t allow a base on balls in the ballgame. The only blemish on his day came as Matt Chapman pulverized a first pitch cutter for a titanic 460-foot blast in the opening inning. Aside from that, Bellozo was in complete command. He got just three whiffs on 36 pitches on the day, posting an underwhelming CSW of 22 percent. With a strong showing in the spring, he could crack the Rockies’ Opening Day rotation though there’s no reason fantasy managers to be looking here.

Rockies signed RHP Valente Bellozo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Bellozo augments Colorado’s pitching depth entering spring training but history suggests his soft-tossing movement-oriented approach is unlikely to find success at high-octane Coors Field. The 26-year-old projects as a versatile swingman for the Rockies after occupying a similar role for the Marlins over the past two seasons, posting a pedestrian 4.20 ERA – 5.12 xERA – and 98/44 K/BB ratio across 150 innings over 45 appearances (19 starts) during that span. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

Marlins RHPs Valente Bellozo, Freddy Tarnok, Jesús Tinoco, Tyler Zuber and Christian Roa elected free agency.
Bellozo was one of five pitchers jettisoned from Miami’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 25-year-old right-hander doesn’t miss a ton of bats, but he shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a new opportunity as an innings-eating swingman somewhere this offseason after compiling a serviceable 4.20 ERA across 150 innings over 45 appearances (19 starts) in the big leagues over the past two seasons.

Marlins sent RHP Valente Bellozo, RHP Freddy Tarnok, C Brian Navarreto, RHP Jesus Tinoco and RHP Tyler Zuber outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
All players will have the ability to enter free agency, if they so choose. Bellozo has been an up-and-down option for Miami over the past couple of years, and likely will have interest on the market as a depth piece if he doesn’t stay with Miami.

Valente Bellozo allowed two runs in three innings and took the loss against the Phillies on Friday.
Bellozo hadn’t started a game since the middle of May, but he managed to throw 48 pitches in the first three innings of Friday’s game. He has a 3.99 ERA while mostly pitching out of the bullpen this year. Bellozo doesn’t posses a profile that’s enticing for fantasy managers should he get stretched out for the rotation.

Valente Bellozo pitched well in a no-decision against the Cubs on Tuesday night, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk over his four-plus innings of work.
Bellozo walked one and recorded a pair of strikeouts in the contest. He served up a solo homer to Pete Crow-Armstrong in the third inning and was saddled with an unearned run in the fifth after plunking Nico Hoerner to start the inning. The 25-year-old right-hander generated six whiffs on 74 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He now sports a 3.27 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 16/11 K/BB ratio through 22 innings with the Marlins this season. With Ryan Weathers returning to the rotation this week though, Bellozo could get bumped from the Marlins’ rotation.

Valente Bellozo reeled off 5 1/3 shutout frames on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.
Bellozo authored one of the strongest starts of his young career against Los Angeles’ certifiable Death Star, which admittedly isn’t operating on full-power mode due to injuries. The 25-year-old righty finished with seven strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks, limiting the Dodgers to just one hit into the sixth inning. He’s not guaranteed another turn in Miami’s rotation, but he’s probably earned it. He’s in line to take the ball on Tuesday against the Cubs and isn’t a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes.

Valente Bellozo allowed four hits, four walks, and five earned runs with one strikeout over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Athletics on Friday.
Bellozo is a real throwback type of pitcher, albeit an ineffective one. He didn’t throw a pitch over 92.7 mph in this game – which is high for him – and forced just three swings-and-misses. Instead, he just moved his cutter all around the strike zone and forced as much soft contact as he could against this talented Athletics lineup. That strategy will often force Bellozo to nibble though and he totally lost the zone during the second inning where he walked three batters, hit another, and gave up a RBI single to Nick Kurtz. His limited skill set makes him uninteresting for even the deepest fantasy leagues.
