Braves acquired RHP Victor Mederos from the Angels for international signing bonus pool space.
Mederos, owner of a career 8.53 ERA in 25.1 innings (three starts) over three years with the Angels, will head to the Braves after being designated for assignment last week. Given how banged up the pitching depth is in Atlanta, it’s hard to fault them for bringing in another arm. The Angels will receive pool space to help them rebuild the back yard, though they’ll have to acquire the pool elsewhere.

Angels designated RHP Victor Mederos for assignment.
Mederos gets the boot from the 40-man roster with Shaun Anderson having his contract selected. The 24-year-old could see interest on the waiver wire, but if he goes unclaimed, he’ll likely remain in Triple-A Salt Lake.

Angels optioned RHP Victor Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Mederos won’t break camp in the majors after being hit hard in a handful of Cactus League outings. The 24-year-old made five appearances (three starts) for the Angels last year and will continue serving as emergency depth on the doorstep of the big leagues.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #58
Angels transferred RHP Victor Mederos from the 15-day injured list on the 60-day injured list.
Mederos is officially out for the rest of the year as he recovers from inflammation in his right shoulder. The 24-year-old will compete for a bullpen spot in 2026, assuming good health.

Angels placed RHP Victor Mederos on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
With only a handful of weeks left in the season, Mederos is probably done for the year. The 24-year-old righty left during Saturday’s loss to the Cubs after feeling the inflammation. There should be an update regarding his potential return timeline at some point in the near future, but shoulder issues typically result in extended absences.

Victor Mederos gave up six runs in four innings Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.
Mederos was surprisingly effective in Triple-A in spite of mediocre strikeout and groundball rates, but it hasn’t carried over in the rotation. He fell to 2-5 with a 7.24 ERA, and if he stays in the rotation, he’ll likely face Houston next.

Victor Mederos allowed three runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Reds on Monday.
Mederos allowed nine hits, and also walked three. The 24-year-old had plenty of self-inflicted damage and traffic, but outside of a two-run homer in the first from Gavin Lux and a sac fly in the fifth by Austin Hays, he was able to limit the damage. Mederos will likely make the start Sunday against the Cubs. Hard to imagine there won’t be better options if/when that occurs.

Victor Mederos allowed three runs with three strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Mederos drew a tough matchup against the Dodgers for his first career start. He issued a walk and hit a batter before Teoscar Hernández singled in a run. Dalton Rushing then took him deep for a two-run homer in the second inning. Mederos would give the Angels two more scoreless innings before ending his day after four frames with three strikeouts. The 24-year-old right-hander lines up for a start against the Reds in Anaheim on Monday.

Angels recalled RHP Victor Mederos from Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 24-year-old hurler will make a spot start for the Angels on Tuesday evening against the Dodgers. Mederos has made 16 starts at the Triple-A level this season, posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 71/34 K/BB ratio across 87 2/3 innings. He’s not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes, especially with a matchup against the Dodgers on tap.

Angels optioned RHP Victor Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Mederos was only up for roughly 24 hours as he’s been shipped out ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Rangers to make room for a fresh relief arm. The 24-year-old righty has made two relief appearances this season in the big leagues.
