Rockies reassigned INF/OFs Charlie Condon, Cole Carrigg and Vimael Machin to minor league camp.
No one from this trio was expected to crack the Rockies’ Opening Day roster, but Condon made a strong case this spring — hitting .385 (15-for-39) with three homers and nine RBI over 46 plate appearances during Cactus League play. If Troy Johnston or TJ Rumfield struggle early in the season and Condon gets off to a hot start at Triple-A Albuquerque, he could push for a promotion.
  • COL Shortstop #65
Rockies signed INF Vimael Machín to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Machín appeared in just four big league contests with the Orioles in 2025, going 1-for-11 (.091) with a solo homer and a 2/1 K/BB ratio. He’ll get an opportunity in Cactus League action to compete for a reserve spot on the Rockies’ Opening Day roster, though he’ll be facing an uphill battle.

Guardians RHP Triston McKenzie elected free agency.
McKenzie headlines a group of 19 players who elected minor league free agency earlier this week, including catcher Matt Thaiss; infielders Scott Kingery, Keston Hiura, Sergio Alcántara, Terrin Vavra and Vimael Machín; outfielders Jose Siri, Connor Joe and Jordyn Adams; and relievers Noah Davis, Scott Blewett, Brooks Kriske, Kevin Herget, Cionel Pérez, Darren McCaughan, Richard Lovelady, José Ruiz and Jordan Weems.
  • BAL Shortstop #65
Orioles sent INF Vimael Machín outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 31-year-old infielder was designated for assignment earlier in the week but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra infield depth for the O’s. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • BAL Shortstop #65
Orioles designated INF Vimael Machín for assignment.
Machín’s time on the Orioles roster was short and not particularly sweet. The 31-year-old is now off the 40-man roster, and the Orioles selected the contract of Emmanuel Rivera to take his spot. Machín will now be on the waiver wire.
  • BAL Shortstop #71
Orioles selected the contract of INF Vimael Machin from Triple-A Norfolk.
The 31-year-old infielder will add some depth in the O’s infield with Jordan Westburg (ankle) hitting the injured list on Friday. Machin hasn’t appeared in a big league game since the 2022 season with the Athletics. At Triple-A Norfolk this season, he was hitting .285/.344/.470 with 15 homers, 70 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 443 plate appearances.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #44
Orioles optioned RHP Kyle Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk; reassigned INF Emmanuel Rivera, INF Luis Vázquez, INF Vimael Machín and C Maverick Handley to minor league camp.
Gibson will head to the minors to continue ramping up his throwing program after signing a one-year, $5.25 million contract last week to bolster Baltimore’s injury-depleted rotation. The 37-year-old veteran figures to be ready to make his season debut at some point in April.
  • BAL Shortstop #71
Vimael Machin was 3-for-3 with a homer and a double Sunday in the Orioles’ 7-3 takedown of the Phillies.
Machin’s 351-foot homer was not his hardest-hit ball of the day. That, instead, was a 106.7 mph double in the sixth inning. The journeyman infielder last played in the majors with the A’s in 2022, and he’s a career .208/.290/.261 hitter with one homer in 361 plate appearances. It would likely take Jorge Mateo opening on IL and another infielder getting hurt for Machin to make the Orioles out of camp.
  • BAL Shortstop #39
Orioles signed INF Vimael Machín to a minor league contract.
Machín spent the last two seasons in the independent Mexican League and last appeared in the majors during the 2022 campaign when he got into a career-high 73 contests for the Athletics. The 31-year-old is merely an emergency depth addition for the Orioles, especially given their plethora of young infielders ready to arrive in the big leagues.
  • COL Shortstop #65
    Phillies released INF Vimael Machín.
Machín signed a minor league contract with the Phillies in January and didn’t end up making it to the majors in Philadelphia. The 29-year-old infielder has been cut loose after 52 games this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He got into a career-high 73 games last year for the Athletics.
