Vince Sinisi went 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBI for Escogido of the DWL on Wednesday.
On his 26th birthday. Sinisi is batting .347/.389/.714 with five homers in 49 at-bats. The former Rangers prospect hit .310/.356/.475 in 303 at-bats for Triple-A Portland last season. If not for all of the injuries that have held him back, he’d probably be a candidate to play left field for the Padres next season. As is, he’s likely in for another year in Triple-A.

Padres acquired 1B-OF Vince Sinisi and RHP John Hudgins from the Rangers for OF Freddy Guzman and RHP Cesar Rojas.
It’s not a horrible trade, but we don’t see why GM Kevin Towers keeps collecting guys with plus power and little in the way of defensive skills. Sinisi, 24, was very well regarded coming out of Rice three years ago, but he’s been injured a lot since then and rarely put up big numbers. It’s possible he’ll become an average regular in first base or left field for some team, but San Diego is a terrible fit for him. Petco Park would neutralize his 25-homer power and exacerbate his lack of range on defense. He’ll be assigned to Double- or Triple-A.
