The 23-year-old righty is the player to be named later in the trade that sent reliever Cory Burns to Texas. Boscan had a 3.75 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 89/28 K/BB ratio in 98 1/3 innings this past season at Double-A Frisco.

Neither cut is a surprise. Boscan is closer of the two to being big league-ready and should begin the season at Triple-A.

As expected, Boscan will replace Juan Nicasio in the rotation and start Tuesday against the Giants. The 26-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA and 33/4 K/BB ratio over 48 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this year, but he’s not a recommended play in mixed fantasy leagues.

Boscan made the most of his five appearances with Pittsburgh, logging a respectable 2.92 ERA over 12 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old should be back with the Pirates later this year.

The right-hander was claimed off waivers last month from the Pirates. He’s now off the 40-man roster and will continue to provide rotation depth in the minor leagues.

He’s been on the disabled list with a strained oblique at Triple-A Indianapolis. Boscan’s release clears a spot for Ryan Vogelsong on the 40-man roster. The right-hander recorded a 6.46 ERA over six outings for Pittsburgh earlier this year.

He’ll be eligible to pitch in the second game. Boscan owns a 2.92 ERA and 6/5 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings with the Pirates this season.

After acquiring him off waivers, the Braves shifted him to the Triple-A disabled list. The 26-year-old right-hander is currently dealing with a strained oblique.

Boscan was up for the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Mets. He did not appear in that game. In 12 1/3 innings major league innings this season, the 26-year-old right-hander held a 2.92 ERA and 6/5 K/BB ratio.
