Giants optioned OF Will Brennan to Triple-A Sacramento.
Brennan gets caught up in a roster crunch as San Francisco brings up top prospect Bryce Eldridge and a couple other players from Triple-A Sacramento. The 28-year-old outfielder has gone hitless in nine at-bats for the Giants this season.

Heliot Ramos is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Reds.
This is the second straight game where Ramos has been on the bench in favor of Will Brennan, who bats left-handed. Ramos is hitting just .234/.258/.266 in 66 plate appearances this season with a 36.4 percent strikeout rate. There is a danger that he is falling into a small side platoon role if Brennan is able to capitalize on this chance.

Giants recalled OF Will Brennan from Triple-A Sacramento.
With both Harrison Bader (hamstring) and Jared Oliva (wrist) landing on the injured list, the Giants need to change up their outfield. Brennan and Drew Gilbert were both called up on Wednesday, and it seems likely that Brennan will most likely serve as the fourth outfielder for now.
  • SF Center Fielder #0
Giants optioned OF Drew Gilbert and Will Brennan and RHPs Spencer Bivens, Tristan Beck, Trevor McDonald and Carson Seymour to Triple-A Sacramento.
Gilbert’s departure makes it a near-lock that Jerar Encarnacion along with either Luis Matos or Jared Oliva will break camp in the big leagues.

Will Brennan hit his first homer of the spring Friday off the Rangers’ Luis Curvelo.
Barring a late pickup, Brennan could be the Giants’ choice to take the lineup spot against right-handers that Bryce Eldridge was supposed to occupy. The 28-year-old has a somewhat adequate .267/.307/.373 career line in 866 plate appearances with the Guardians. The Giants surely like that he strikes out just 13% of the time. Still, he just doesn’t hit the ball hard enough to really take advantage of that fact. He’s also not particularly adept in the outfield or on the basepaths, where he’s gone 0-for-3 stealing bases this spring. It shouldn’t be difficult for them to do better.

Will Brennan went 2-for-3 with two RBI in a 7-4 win for the Giants on Saturday over the Diamondbacks.
Brennan also scored twice. The 28-year-old has played well this spring with a .471/.550/.647 slash as evidence. He should have a spot on the Opening Day roster, and may even see playing time against right-handed pitching to open 2026.

Luis Arraez is batting leadoff and starting at second base for Sunday’s Cactus League battle against the Cubs.
We’re seeing close to a full lineup from the Giants in this one, with the only regular not here being Heliot Ramos who batted third in Saturday’s contest. It looks like new skipper Tony Vitello is content letting Arraez bat atop the lineup while Matt Chapman’s inclusion in the second spot is mildly intriguing. Just something to keep an eye on. Here’s the full lineup for Sunday: Luis Arraez (2B), Matt Chapman (3B), Willy Adames (SS), Rafael Devers (1B), Patrick Bailey (C), Jung Hoo Lee (RF), Bryce Eldridge (DH), Will Brennan (LF) and Harrison Bader (CF).

Giants signed OF Will Brennan to a one-year contract.
No word yet on the financial terms of the contract. Brennan, 28, underwent surgery back in May to repair a torn UCL but is fully recovered and ready to go for spring training. Barring a disastrous showing in Cactus League play, he should crack the Giants’ Opening Day roster.
  • CLE Right Fielder #17
Guardians non-tendered OF Will Brennan, LHP Sam Hentges and RHP Nic Enright.
All three players now free agents. Brennan underwent surgery to repair the UCL in his left elbow back in May, but should be ready to go early in the 2026 season. Both Hentges and Enright will likely see non-roster interest to help needy bullpens.
  • CLE Right Fielder #17
Will Brennan underwent surgery on Monday to repair the UCL in his left elbow.
Recovery timelines for position players are much shorter than pitchers when it comes to UCL surgeries, but it’ll be challenging for Brennan to make it back to Cleveland’s outfield mix before the end of the season. The 27-year-old hit the shelf back in late May with left forearm inflammation and ultimately wound up requiring surgery.
