This is simply two teams shifting their minor league depth around. Lamb, 26, holds a 5.92 ERA over 26 appearances -- three starts -- between Double- and Triple-A this season.

The 25-year-old southpaw spent his first five professional seasons in the Rangers organization. In 2015, he compiled a 4.42 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 51/26 K/BB ratio across 57 innings between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He’s nothing more than a depth signing for the White Sox.

Lamb was signed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training in December. He struggled with a 5.27 ERA in 66 2/3 innings last year in the minors with the Rockies and White Sox organizations, respectively.

Lamb posted an ugly 5.27 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and 73/40 K/BB ratio in 66 2/3 innings (three starts, 33 relief appearances) this past season between the minor league systems of the Rockies and White Sox. The 27-year-old former second-round pick has never appeared in a major league game.
