Yandy Díaz homered and walked twice Tuesday as the Rays crushed a Twins split-squad 12-1.
Díaz’s one ball in play was pushed 372 feet down the right field line. It’s his first spring homer since 2024, as he went without one in 40 at-bats last year. Díaz hit second today after leading off in his spring debut. He’ll almost certainly occupy one of those two spots on Opening Day, but which will probably come down to whether the team thinks it has anyone worth hitting ahead of him.

Chandler Simpson, Yandy Díaz and Brandon Lowe are not in the lineup for Sunday’s season finale against the Blue Jays.
Simpson wraps up his rookie campaign with 44 thefts in 109 games and at times has looked like a game-changing speedster. Díaz gets a breather after socking a career-high 25 home runs in 150 games while Lowe managed to stay healthy for 134 contests and reach the 30-homer mark for the first time since the 2021 campaign.

Yandy Díaz went 0-for-4 with a walk on Friday against the Blue Jays in his return to the lineup.
Díaz didn’t end up missing any additional time after leaving Thursday’s contest with right groin tightness. The 34-year-old first baseman has put together a phenomenal season with a career-high 25 round-trippers in 149 games.

Yandy Díaz left Thursday’s game in the fifth inning due to right groin tightness.
He’s day-to-day, but anything could be a season-ender at this point. Hunter Feduccia replaced him at DH against the Orioles. Christopher Morel, who was already starting against a lefty today, could get extra starts at DH this weekend if Díaz is out.

Yandy Díaz is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Orioles.
Díaz earns a well-deserved break with Tampa Bay’s playoff hopes officially extinguished. The 34-year-old veteran did his part this season, slashing a robust .301/.366/.485 with a career-high 25 homers, 83 RBI and three steals in 147 games.

Yandy Díaz went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a walk against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Díaz drew a walk in the first inning, then led off the sixth with base hit before tying the game in the seventh with his second hit of the game. The 34-year-old slugger has had an incredible season, slashing .302/.367/.489 with 25 homers, 76 runs scored, and 83 RBI across 635 plate appearances.

Yandy Díaz went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a home run against the Red Sox on Friday.
Díaz’ home run was his 25th home run of the season. The 34-year-old DH hit a solo shot off Garrett Crochet in the third inning. Díaz’ 25 home runs are a career-high for him. He’s hitting .300 with an .853 OPS and 82 RBI this year.

Yandy Díaz is not in the starting lineup for the Rays on Thursday against the White Sox.
It’s a routine day off for Díaz, who has had one of his best seasons ever with a career-high 23 home runs and 78 RBI to go along with a .292/.350/.474 slash line. Of course, playing your home game in a minor league ballpark will help with the power production. Bob Seymour will start at first base and bat sixth on Thursday.

Yandy Díaz went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs scored on Tuesday evening as the Rays eked out a one-run victory over the Mariners.
Díaz worked Bryan Woo for a walk in the first inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI single off the bat of Junior Caminero. He also walked in the seventh inning and scored on a two-run double by Caminero. The 34-year-old is having another strong season at the dish, slashing .287/.348/.472 with 22 homers and 76 RBI.

Yandy Díaz is on the bench for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals.
It appears to be a routine off day for Díaz, who matched his previous career-high mark in the home run department earlier this week when he smashed his 22nd long ball of the year. The 34-year-old gets a breather with rookie Bob Seymour drawing a start at the cold corner to face Nationals youngster Brad Lord.
