The Twins claimed Weiss off waivers from the Red Sox last season after he posted a 3.21 ERA in 14 innings in 2023. Weiss missed the first three months of the 2024 season with a shoulder strain and then registered a 5.40 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, and 32/11 K/BB ratio in 25 innings at Triple-A

Weiss had made five rehab appearances on his way back from a shoulder strain that cost him the first three months of the season, but they weren’t good enough to force the Twins to include him in their plans. The 32-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox in the offseason after finishing with a 3.21 ERA in 14 innings last season.

Weiss landed on the 15-day injured list last month with a right shoulder strain and is apparently also dealing with an elbow strain as well. The procedural move opened up a spot on Minnesota’s 40-man roster.

Weiss didn’t make any appearances during spring camp due to his shoulder strain and will be sidelined to start the season. The 31-year-old pitched 14 innings for the Red Sox and Angels last season where he posted a 3.21 ERA.

Even though he gave up four homers, Weiss had a 3.21 ERA in 14 innings for the Angels and Red Sox last year. The 31-year-old will be a bullpen candidate for the Twins, but it’s doubtful he’ll make the team out of spring training.

Weiss will likely go back on waivers five months after the Red Sox claimed him from the Angels. He pitched a total of 14 innings for the two teams, posting a 3.21 ERA in his 12 appearances.

Weiss has been shipped back to the minors with veteran closer Kenley Jansen returning from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Saturday’s game against the White Sox at Fenway Park.

Weiss has been summoned to give Boston’s bullpen a fresh arm heading into Saturday’s showdown against the Orioles. The 31-year-old righty was claimed off waivers a few weeks ago from the Angels and will be making his Red Sox debut when he gets into a game.

Weiss was designated for assignment by the Angels earlier this week. The 31-year-old has posted a 3.86 ERA and 25/9 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings with the Angels over the past two seasons. He’ll give the Red Sox some upper-level bullpen depth.

Weiss has been removed from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the White Sox. The 31-year-old righty has made six relief appearances this season for the Angels.
