Levi Kitchen wins 250 Budds Creek qualification

MECHANICSVILLE, Maryland: Levi Kitchen (1:56.283) posted the fastest time in the first qualification session for the 250 riders, which held up for the fastest overall as rain fell hard on the second session for the class.

Cole Davies (1:56.596) was second on the chart, three-tenths of a second behind.

Haiden Deegan posted the fastest lap in the first session before putting on an exhibition in Q 2.

Davies trailed Kitchen by one point in the 250 championship session entering this round.

Rain was supposed to stop about the time the motos begin, but the questions will be how much damage the track took during the heavy rain and laps completed in the second qualification session.

Ryder DiFrancesco slotted into third with a time of 1:56.944, but he ran into trouble in the second session. He crashed midway through, but remounted without issue. DiFrancesco was coming off back-to-back top-fives.

Landen Gordon (1:57.173) was the fourth fastest rider. Gordon’s best finish this season has been 11th at Thunder Valley.

Chance Hymas (1:57.325) rounded out the top five.

Last Chance Qualifiers and WMX practice were canceled so the series could spend the afternoon getting the track in shape for the features.
