MECHANICSVILLE, Maryland: Haiden Deegan (1:54.734) posted the fastest lap in the first qualification session, and then put on an exhibition of mud racing in Q2.
Jett Lawrence (1:55.266) posted the second fastest time in the second session with a time of 1:55.266, but that was only part of the story. Jett crashed during the first session and stuck his bike in the fence. It took four people to help him remove it.
RJ Hampshire (1:55.501) was third on the chart. He was one of six riders who completed a lap in the second session and then answered media questions with a smile.
Hunter Lawrence (1:55.541) posted the fourth fastest lap as he looks to overcome the 10-point deficit last week’s Unadilla crash imposed.
Eli Tomac (1:56.037) rounded out the top five.
Only six riders completed a lap in the second session. Garrett Marchbanks (2:24.418) was the fastest of these with Deegan, Justin Barcia, Cooper Webb, Aaron Plessinger, and Hampshire taking the opportunity to see where the biggest puddles were.
Last Chance Qualifiers and WMX practice were canceled so the series could spend the afternoon getting the track in shape for the features.
