Mayla Herrick led all eight laps of Moto 3 of the Women’s class of the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Nationals in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, for her second win of the week and the National Championship.
Herrick entered the moto one point behind Jordan Jarvis after the veteran scored the Moto 2 victory and Herrick finished third in that race.
Herrick got the jump on the competition on the opening lap and as Hannah Hodges battled with Jarvis, Herrick amassed a three second lead over the field. Unchallenged, Herrick continued to pull away from the pack and finished more than 14 seconds ahead at the finish line.
Jarvis’ second-place finish in Moto 3, combined with another runner-up result in the first moto and a Moto 2 victory, placed her third in the championship.
Hodges rounded out the podium and was third in the championship with results of third, second, and third.
Lilly-Ann Pettus got a strong start in fourth and maintained her spot on the track as positions behind her swapped.
Brighton, Tennessee’s Tinley McCoy moved up from eighth at the start of the moto to round out the top five in fifth.
