Carl Edwards paces Sprint Cup practice

Carl Edwards led the way in Friday’s Sprint Cup practice with a lap of 136.894 mph.

Joe Gibbs Racing, which has been dominant this summer, had only one other car in the top 10. Matt Kenseth was 10th after a lap of 135.434 mph. Kyle Busch, who won at this track in July, was 14th, and Denny Hamlin, who won last weekend’s Chase opener, was 16th.

Kevin Harvick, trying to rebound from last week’s 42nd-place finish, was 11th in the practice session.

There were no incidents in the practice.
